What's the Buzz?

'Levee' retailers on board, under wraps

The developer of Newport on the Levee said the retail/entertainment project will be chock full of big-name retailers for this fall's opening.

Columbus-based Steiner & Associates just isn't ready to reveal which retailers it has landed.

Steiner's Chief Operating Officer Tim Rollins said his firm received “commitments” from retailers to take 75 percent of the 380,000-square-foot project. That number will be bumped up to 93 percent when the project opens, Mr. Rollins said during the University of Cincinnati/PNC Financial Services' real estate outlook conference Friday.

He wouldn't comment on NAI's commercial real estate report that listed the following committed tenants: Barnes & Noble, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Eddie Bauer, The Gap, Dick's Last Resort, Cheesecake Factory, Johnny Rockets, Bahama Breeze, Austin Grill, Dewey's Pizza and Claddagh Irish Pub. Rounding out the entertainment portion will be two theaters: AMC's 20-screen multiplex and an IMAX.

Nate Sprong, NAI's retail specialist who wrote the report, said he hasn't confirmed those tenants. He got his information from trade journals and newspapers.
