Conner downs Dixie in overtime

        Conner couldn't hold a five-point lead entering the fourth quarter but survived to beat Dixie Heights 76-74 in overtime at Conner Friday night.

        Dixie's Russ Bramlage made a layup with six seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

        Conner senior forward Russ Stephenson recorded his 1,000th career point in the third quarter with his fourth 3-pointer of the game.

        He finished with 26 points.

        Terry Johnson registered a double-double for Conner, scoring 17 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

        Senior guard Nathan Hall scored a team-high 16 points for Dayton.

        • Calvary Christian 56, Beechwood 46 — Junior center Brian Helton came off the bench for the Cougars to score a career-high 18 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter.

        The Tigers tied the game with 3:30 to go in the third quarter but couldn't solve the Cougars' pressure defense late in the game.

        Junior guard Ross Hart led the Tigers with 15 points and scored eight of those in the third quarter to help close the point gap.

        Patrick Walker added 10 for Holmes, which pulled away on the strength of a 17-8 run in the third period.

        Only four players scored for Newport, but two registered double-doubles. Donald Smithson scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Thomas Petty had 15 points and 17 rebounds.

        Campbell County had four players in double figures, led by Reinhardt, who scored 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

        Senior forward Kevin Cristello paced the Pioneers with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

        Jeff Eisenmenger paced St. Henry with 22 points, making 12 of his 19 shots.

        Andrew Vieth added 15 points.
