N.Ky. boys basketball games


Horstman, Dawn reach 2,000 points

        Jimmy Horstman scored his 2,000th career point during Silver Grove's 64-58 win over Ludlow on Saturday.

        Horstman finished the game with 25 points.

        Chad McCarter scored seven of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.

        Andy Beard paced Ludlow with 18 points.

        • Newport Central Catholic 48, Holy Cross 39 — Ronny Dawn scored eight of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter and his cousin, Aaron, added five points as the Thoroughbreds broke a 29-29 third-quarter tie.

        Josh Beiting led the Indians with 18 points, including eight of their 10 in the fourth quarter.

        Dawn has 2,005 career points at NCC.

        • Grant County 69, Henry County 57 — Senior guard Allen Shafer and sophomore guard Tyler Jones each scored six points in the second quarter, when Grant County outscored Henry County 25-13 after leading by one point after the first quarter.

        Shafer scored 15 points to lead the Braves. Junior forward Stanley Riley scored 14 points and Jones added 13 for Grant County.

        Senior forward Matthew Brent scored a game-high 23 points for Henry County.

        • Gallatin County 65, Walton-Verona 63 — Chris Kluemper hit two free throws with six seconds to play to tie the score, and John Parker stole the inbounds pass and made the winning basket at the buzzer to win the game for Gallatin.

        Robbie Huellemeier paced the Bearcats with a game-high 28 points.
