3 of 4 plead guilty in taped sexual assault

HAMILTON Three of four men accused in a videotaped sexual assault at a New Year's Eve party pleaded guilty Wednesday and are awaiting sentencing.
In exchange for those pleas, prosecutors dropped two charges against each of the suspects, who appeared in Butler County Common Pleas Court.
I'm trying to get as much finality as I can for the victim of the offense and, at the same time, hold them accountable, Butler County Prosecutor Robin Piper said.
Police have said the four men repeatedly violated a semiconscious 26-year-old female party-goer in the 300 block of Clinton Avenue.
Daymon Anderson, 24, of Springfield Township; Michael Reid, 22, of Springdale; and Justin Bowman, 21, of Fairfield, each pleaded guilty to a count of sexual battery. The charge is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
Mr. Bowman also pleaded guilty to a first-degree misdemeanor count of assault, which carries a sentence of up to six months.
Judge Keith Spaeth is to sentence Mr. Anderson and Mr. Bowman on April 5; Mr. Reid, on May 3.
The remaining defendant, Stephan Tremble, 23, of Lexington, is set for a hearing Monday. His case is set for trial March 5.
Mr. Tremble's lawyers, Matthew T. Ernst and Paul M. Laufman, declined to comment on his behalf. However, they said they have filed motions seeking a copy of the videotape. They also argue that portions of the tape that do not involve their client should be edited out.
Mr. Piper said he would allow the lawyers to view the tape in private but he doesn't think it's appropriate for him to provide them with a copy.
