Cincinnati boys basketball games


West Hi wallops Fairfield

        Senior center Danny Horace scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and had a team-high four steals to lead fourth-seeded Western Hills to an easy 70-44 victory over Fairfield in the Division I Sectional at Lakota West.

        Senior forward Darryl Peterson added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Mustangs, who led by as many as 17 in the first half.

        A key stat in the game was turnovers. Western Hills forced 18 Fairfield turnovers, while the Mustangs turned it over only six times.

        “I thought the pressure from the guards made the difference,” said Western Hills coach Lannis Timmons.

        Forward Kevin Ruhl led Fairfield with 18 points.

        Western Hills advances to meet the winner of today's Harrison-Lakota East game on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at Miami University's Millett Hall.

        Drew Walters came off the bench to score 15 points. Brian Brunetti added 11 points.

        Dustin Cash had a game-high 23 points for Norwood.

        • Madeira 71, Indian Hill 59, Division III at Sycamore - Robb Hern scored 19 points for Madeira, which bounced back from an early 11-point deficit.

        The Mustangs trailed Indian Hill 22-11 after the first quarter, but a stingy defense held the Braves to five second-quarter points.

        Rob Tuke (14), Adam Burch (12) and Bret Underwood (13) all scored in double figures.

        Grady Rogers paced the Braves with 19 points while Ollie Kendell pitched in with 15.
