Cincinnati girls basketball games


Oak Hills rolls past McAuley

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Danielle Dietrich scored all 12 of her points in the first half as the Highlanders took command early and beat McAuley 59-37 in the Division I girls sectional tournament title game at Milford.

        The Highlanders led 34-11 at halftime.

        Nikki Lichtenfeld led McAuley with 12 points. Stacey Fehr, Vanessa Laug and Michelle Holmes added nine points each for Oak Hills.

        Oak Hills plays Mother of Mercy next week.

        • Mercy 62, Sycamore 29 — Division I at Milford — Siobhan Zerilla scored eight of her 10 points in the first quarter, helping third-ranked Mercy take a 36-12 halftime lead.

        Erin Mullen added a game-high 11 points for the winners.

        Emily Schwerdtmann led Sycamore with eight points.

        • Mariemont 44, North College Hill 43, Division III at Mason — Sophomore Elizabeth Kauffman scored all seven of Mariemont's fourth-quarter points, including five in the final 12.2 seconds to lead the third-seeded Warriors to the sectional championship.

        NCH junior Shawntae Goldmas hit two 3-pointers during a 14-0 NCH run to open the fourth quarter that left the Lady Trojans lead ing, 39-38. Kauffman snapped a streak of four consecutive missed Mariemont free throws by hitting two with 2:05 left.

        NCH sophomore Michele Miller followed with two with 19.4 seconds left, but Kauffman hit a scoop shot and a free throw with 12.2 seconds left and two more free throws with 1.3 seconds left

        Kauffman finished with a 12 points. Sophomore Amber Flynn scored 15 for NCH.

        Mariemont plays the winner of tonight's West Liberty Salem-Brookville game for a district championship next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Vandalia Butler High School.
