Sabin Convention Center. Continues 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Cats that have appeared in Murphy Brown, Murder She Wrote, General Hospital, Poetic Justice and Stuart Little will perform at noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m. each day. $3-$5. (800) 725-4228.

Maple Sugar Days: Families can learn the traditions of maple sugaring from tapping trees to changing sap into syrup, noon-5 p.m. today at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve, Colerain Avenue and Poole Road, Colerain Township. Continues Sunday. 521-7275.

Staying In

TV picks: It all started in 1955 with plans for a one-day boycott. In Montgomery, Ala., black protesters didn't expect to end segregated bus rides, they just thought they could make them more civil. Instead, the boycott stretched on for more than a year. A young pastor named Martin Luther King Jr. became a national hero and the old ways crumbled. Boycott (8 p.m. HBO) is a wonderfully human portrait of the boycotters, flaws and all. In particular, Jeffrey Wright (Shaft) really brings the Rev. King to life.

        • Kate Brasher (9 p.m., Channels 12 and 7)is opening round of a tryout series worth keeping, says Mike Hughes of Gannett News Service. In a year when Erin Brockovich heads toward Oscar night, we have another single mom (Mary Stuart Masterson) as a heroine. Also in the cast: Hector Elizondo and Rhea Perlman.

Planning Ahead

24 hours out: Buckwheat Zydeco is the featured performer at Jefferson Hall's Mardi Gras party beginning 9 p.m. Sunday, 1151 Main St., Over-the-Rhine. $15. 723-9008.

48 hours out: Alteractive series at Playhouse in the Park features the performance poetry and art rock of Terri Ford & Uncle Glockenspiel with The 50 shoes. 7 p.m. Monday in the Rosenthal Plaza. $8. 421-3888.

A week away: Napoleon in Egypt, a multimedia exhibit exploring the ambitious general's fascination with and conquering of Egypt, opens at the Cincinnati Museum Center. 287-7000.

Get To It appears daily. Send items to Get To It, Tempo, Cincinnati Enquirer, 312 Elm St., Cincinnati 45202; fax: 768-8330.
