Reality TV

Here's a brief synopsis of who and what developed — or didn't — on recent prime-time reality programsfeaturing Tristate residents. Last week's offerings: Temptation Island (9 p.m., Channels 19, 45) and Survivor (8 p.m. Thursday, Channels 12, 7).

Temptation Island concludes 9 p.m. Wednesday. Kate Pahls of Columbia Township returns for the final episode of ABC's The Mole (8 p.m. Wednesday, Channel 9).

Local ratings

Temptation: Fourth behind the Grammy Awards, The West Wing and Drew Carey Show.

Survivor: Runaway No. 1 again, drawing more viewers than the combined audience for Friends, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Gilmore Girls and Fox's The Nutty Professor.

Body count:

Temptation: Down to the six “dream dates” (three men, three women) for the three couples. Evan from Cincinnati was sent packing with the dozen single men and women.

Survivor: Five gone, 10 to go, after Rodger Bingham's Kucha tribe voted out Kimmi Kappenberg, the Long Island bartender.

Highlights

Temptation: Not all enjoyed their overnight “dream dates.”

Survivor: Kucha tribe wins blankets, toothpaste, soap and shampoo in a “reward” challenge.

Lowlights

Temptation: Taheed quizzes girlfriend Ytossie, the mother of his child, on how she kissed a man on the show: “Tongue? You just went buck wild?”

Survivor: Kucha tribe members complained that Kimmi never bathed. “The water here grosses me out more than anything,” she explained.

Best quote

Temptation: “I've come on this island to sort of find out my market value (with women), which I've never really known before.” Kaya, 28, a Miami Beach model, on his separation from girlfriend Valerie.

Survivor: “You're getting emotionally attached to the chickens.” Alicia, 32, shouting at Kimmi, the vegetarian who refused to join the Kucha tribe for chicken dinners.

Best news for us

Temptation: Ytossie and Taheed, the couple thrown out of the dating games because they have a child, decided they'll stick together.

Survivor: Rodger remains safe for another week because Kucha voted 6-1 to oust Kimmi, whose lack of personal hygiene had become a major source of irritation.

Big question:

Temptation: Will any of the couples break up after their flings?

Survivor: Who gets hurt in this week's episode? Previews showed Rodger consoling Elisabeth after “an accident at the Kucha camp.”

Our guess

Temptation: “The shocking final episode,” as Fox called it last Wednesday, won't be very shocking at all.

Survivor: We may know when Rodger is voted out because he could be absent from that night's Crittenden viewing party so he can fly to New York and be on Bryant Gumbel's Early Show the next morning.
