NKU men start tourney today

The Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team is seeded No.3 entering GLVC tournament action today at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Ind.

NKU (24-5) plays No.6 seed Missouri-St.Louis (14-12) at 3:30p.m. today. Should NKU win, it would meet either No.2 seed Kentucky Wesleyan or No.7 seed Lewis at 9:30p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The GLVC title game is 8p.m. Saturday.

NKU is led by junior forward Craig Sanders (McNicholas), who averages 16.6 points. Senior guard Craig Conley (LaSalle), the reigning GLVC player of the week, needs 29 assists to break Shannon Minor's NKU career record of 529. Conley needs just one assist to break Minor's season record of 176, set in 1996-97.

The Norse are ranked 13th in the national coaches' Division II poll. Top GLVC seed Southern Indiana (24-2) is ranked No.3 nationally, while Kentucky Wesleyan (23-3) is ranked No.2.
