Get to it

A guide to help make your day

Going out

Circus: The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth is up and running at Firstar Center with a whole roster of classic circus entertainment, including a tiger whisperer, acrobats, highwire walkers and lots of laughs. 7:30 p.m. today-Saturday, 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday. $13.50-$35. 562-4949.

CSO: The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra returns to Music Hall tonight with a concert highlighting the talents of renowned pianist Jon Nakamatsu and a program including R. Strauss, Liszt and Schumann. 7:30 p.m., 1243 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine. $12-$49. 381-3300.

Opera: University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music free opera workshop this quarter is Rossini's little-known farce Il Cambiale di Matrimonio (Marriage by Promissory Note), opening 8 p.m. today in UC's Dieterle Vocal Arts Center. Performances continue through Saturday. 556-4183.

Staying In

TV picks: On Survivor (8 p.m., Channels 12 and 7), the field gets trimmed to 10 people. And if we can believe previews, someone is injured and has to be evacuated via helicopter. Afterward, the two tribes will merge and the individual games can begin.

        • NBC still isn't ready to return The Weber Show, which was yanked for overhauls. Consequently, there are double episodes of Friends (8 p.m., Channels 5 and 22), both keyed to the wedding plans of Monica and Chandler. In the first, Rachel and Phoebe both want to be maid of honor; in the second, Janice — Chandler's annoying former girlfriend — invites herself to the nuptials.

Web site of the day: If you're planning a car trip with a dog or a cat, check out petswelcome.com for an online map and list of pet-friendly lodgings along the way. A hypothetical trip from Hyde Park to Pontiac, Mich., turned up 14 potential overnight stops. The site's database includes nearly 30,000 hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfasts, campgrounds, ski resorts, boarding kennels, parks and beaches.

Planning Ahead

24 hours out: Reggae artist Sanchez with opening act Flex Crew play Annie's Entertainment Center, 10 p.m. Friday, 4343 Kellogg Ave., Columbia-Tusculum. $15-$18. 321-2572.

48 hours out: Antiques and collectibles from the estate of Walter Johnson, who owned Trivets Antiques and Boutique, downtown, will be auctioned 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Business Club of Montgomery, 7777 Sycamore St. Repeats Sunday. 271-4100; www.stuartholman.com.

72 hours out: Classical guitarist Robert Bluestone brings a multicultural repertoire to Miami University's Hall Auditorium series, 3 p.m. Sunday, Oxford. $4-$7. (513) 529-3200.
