Dayton firm gets Cincinnati capital
Cohesia Inc. of Dayton, Ohio, has secured $16 million in venture funding from GE Equity and Blue Chip Venture Co. of Cincinnati, the company said Friday.
The company's IntelliDoc software helps companies develop specifications for engineering projects by pulling data from existing documents.
On Cohesia's executive team are former officers of SDRC and Entek in Cincinnati. Blue Chip Venture also participated in an earlier round of funding for Cohesia of $5 million.
GE engineers honored for work
Three engineers at GE Aircraft Engines were honored for their work in improving single-stage turbine performance as part of the Evendale jet engine maker's Engineers' Day observance this week.
Evendale engineers Scott Carson, David Cherry and Craig Kuhne received the Perry T. Egbert Jr. Award for their work on the high-pressure turbine for the TECH56 program. TECH56 is GEAE and Snecma's joint development effort on next-generation CFM56 engine technology. The high-pressure turbine is one of the most sophisticated and demanding parts of the modern jet engine.
Also as part of the Engineer's Day observance, GEAE recognized four engineers at its Lynn, Mass., plant for their work on the CF34-8 engine for new regional jets. They are Joseph Joyce, Mike Macrorie, Steven Manwaring and Robert Walter.
Herbold joins Cintas board
Robert J. Herbold, recently retired executive vice president and chief operating officer of Microsoft Corp., has been named to the board of directors of Cintas Corp., the Mason uniform supplier.
Mr. Herbold joined Microsoft in 1994 after working 26 years at Procter & Gamble Co. He fills the Cintas board vacancy created by the retirement of John S. Lillard last fall.
Kroger food gifts total $32 million
Divisions of Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. donated more than 19 million pounds of food and other products, valued at $32 million, to food banks affiliated with Second Harvest, Kroger said this week.
Second Harvest is the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, Kroger said.
