DUBLIN, Ohio — Columbus DeSales sophomore Jillian Stranges placed in the top 2 in three of four events to win the all-around state gymnastics championship Saturday.

        Stranges, the runner-up last year, won the vault with a 9.45 and tied Barberton's Amie Siefert for first on the floor at 9.5, the day's top score in any event at Dublin Coffman High School.

        Stranges placed second on bars (9.3) and scored a 9.375 on the beam while becoming the first gymnast from central Ohio to win the all-around title since Worthington's Melissa Harmon in 1989.

        Betsy Norris of Rocky River Magnificat was runner-up at 36.525, followed by Jennifer Aingworth of Mentor (36.45) and Erica Trippet of Brecksville-Broadview Heights (36.425). Trippet won the beam with a 9.475.

        The Perrysburg duo of Stephanie Sams and Jenny Seiling tied for fifth (36.40).
