UC routs Xavier in crosstown baseball
Craig Tewes (St. Henry High School) tied a school record with three doubles as Cincinnati defeated crosstown rival Xavier 19-3 at UC on Wednesday.
Tewes went 3-for-3 and also scored five runs for UC. Kevin Wilson and LaDaris Vann, the latter a starting receiver on the football team, also had three hits for the Bearcats. UC (10-2) had 14 hits and took advantage of 11 walks and eight XU errors.
The Muskies (4-6) had just three hits, with Ty Brenning driving in two runs. UC extended its series lead to 52-32-1.
