NKU men upset Southern Indiana
The Cincinnati Enquirer
OWENSBORO, Ky. Brian Lawhon made a free throw with one second remaining in overtime Friday night as Northern Kentucky rallied to upset Southern Indiana 93-92 in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament.
Lawhon was fouled going for a rebound in the closing seconds, and he made the first free throw. He missed the second intentionally, and NKU advanced to the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region title game against top-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan at 8:30p.m. today.
Craig Sanders scored 28 points to lead NKU (27-6), which entered the game ranked No.14 nationally; Southern Indiana (26-4) was ranked No.4.
