Ex-boxing champ still hospitalized

Former WBA heavyweight champion Greg Page remained in critical condition Sunday at University Hospital.

The Louisville native collapsed late Friday during a boxing match at Peel's Palace in Erlanger. Sources reported that he underwent brain surgery early Saturday for a head injury sustained during the fight, but family members asked the hospital not to release details.

Mr. Page, 42, collapsed during the 10th round of a fight with Dale Crowe of Alexandria.

Mr. Page won the World Boxing Association heavyweight championship by knocking out Gerrie Coetzee in the eighth round on Dec. 1, 1984, five years after he turned pro. He lost the title five months later to Cincinnati's Tony Tubbs.
