NewCath's Dawn second-team all Ky.




        LEXINGTON, Ky. — Ronny Dawn of Newport Central Catholic was a second-team pick on the 2001 Associated Press all-state boys basketball teams.

        Only one Northern Kentucky player, Jordan Stowers of Simon Kenton, received honorable mention.

        Glasgow's Brandon Stockton led all vote-getters. Other first teamers are Patrick Sparks of Muhlenberg North, Josh Carrier of Bowling Green, Carlos Hurt of Moore and Brandon Bender of Ballard.

        Stockton, the state's second-leading scorer, averaged 29.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, five assists and 3.3 steals and was the most valuable player of this year's All A Classic as he led his team to a 26-6 record.

        Rodney Rowe, who guided Shelby Valley to a 27-3 record before the team fell to Allen Central in the first round of the regionals, was the choice as coach of the year by the state's sports writers and sportscasters.
