Rodger replaced as most popular
By John Kiesewetter
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Here's a quick TV survival guide as the Tristate awaits the eighth episode of Survivor: The Australian Outback (8 p.m. today, Channels 12, 7) featuring Rodger Bingham, the Grant County High School industrial arts teacher from Crittenden, Ky.:

Jeff
|
Goners: Seven gone, eight to go, after Jeff Varner, 34, the former University of North Carolina cheerleader, was voted out after the two camps merged into the Barramundi tribe. The Ogakor tribe has five in the game; Kucha has four.

Elisabeth
|
Miss Popularity: Shivering on that post in the water for nine hours last week has made Elisabeth Filarski, 23, the most popular castaway (8.8 on a 1-10 scale) in the CBS.com viewers' poll. Rodger slips to second (8.7) despite gaining one-tenth of a point from last week. Jerri Manthey remains more unpopular than ever, dropping to an all-time low (2.0 from 2.2).
Betting line: Rodger's odds improve slightly as the number of players shrink, though he is still the long shot for winning the $1 million prize in odds posted by Intertops.com, an Internet sports betting site. Tina Wesson, 40, the Knoxville nurse, is the new favorite, surpassing Colby Donaldson and Alicia Calaway.

The latest betting line: Tina, 3-1; Keith, 3 1/4-1; Colby, 4-1; Amber Brkich, 4 1/4-1; Elisabeth, 5-1; Alicia, 6-1; Nick Brown, 8-1; Jerri, 10-1; and Rodger, 12-1 (from 15-1).
Fashion statement: Elisabeth's flowing scarves in her hair at tribal council.
Rudy-like moment: Like Rudy Boesch, Rodger wasn't pleased when the women prevailed on picking the shelter site at the new Barramundi camp.
Wisdom of Rodger: It's a dry creek bed, but I don't know if it's always dry or not, he told Tina about the location for the new sleeping quarters.

Keith
|
Quote of the week: She's been like my sister. It was definitely a gift, Keith said about Tina, who quit an endurance challenge (standing on a pole for 10 hours and 17 minutes) so polarizing Keith could win immunity from being voted out of the game.
Big question: Who will make all the cocky, smarmy remarks for the cameras each week with Jeff out of the game?

Jerri
|
Tonight: While Jerri quickly wears out her welcome in the new Barramundi camp, someone hurts Elisabeth's feelings. New friendships form after the merger, which could change voting strategies. The person voted out tonight becomes the first member of the seven-person jury that will decide the $1 million winner on May 3.
Next week: Survivor takes a timeout during March madness next week, airing highlights and outtakes from the first eight episodes or 24 days in the Outback on March 21 (8 p.m., Channels 12, 7). The clip show enables CBS to stretch Survivor two weeks into May sweeps.
