Miami hires offensive coordinator
By Ryan Waldheger
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Miami football coach Terry Hoeppner announced the hiring of Shane Montgomery as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Montgomery replaces Greg Seamon.
For the last eight years, Montgomery was at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga where his stay included stints as the wide receivers coach, quarterback coach, co-offensive coordinator and program's recruiting coordinator.
With the graduation of quarterback Mike Bath, a three-year starter, Hoeppner said he needed to find someone who could work closely with the RedHawks' signal callers.
Shane has a good blend of an understanding of the quarterback position, having played it recently, and also has the right personality for the job, Hoeppner said. The fact that Mike Bath is gone meant it was time to reassess our offense. We want to be able to maintain our balance on offense and improve and add some things.
Montgomery, a Newark, Ohio, native, was a record-setting quarterback at North Carolina State, earning MVP honors in the 1988 Peach Bowl and 1989 Copper Bowl.
