Revamped Berry Way to be opened
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A section of the new Theodore M. Berry Way, between Race and Elm streets, will open Monday, sometime after 9 a.m., officials announced Friday.
The new section will connect Second Street with the Roebling Suspension Bridge by using either Elm or Race streets.
Officials said the newly opened street will also make a new connection between the Suspension Bridge and Mehring Way, providing an additional route for riverfront parking.
The street was renamed in 1997 to honor Mr. Berry, Cincinnati's first African-American mayor.
The reconstructed, $4 million Theodore M. Berry Way runs north of Mehring Way, stretching west from the Suspension Bridge to near Elm Street. It will eventually be connected eastward to Main Street, near the Reds' future Great American Ball Park.
The street replaces the old Ted Berry Way, which had been put out of commission by the refiguring of Fort Washington Way.
