Baby sitter admits to molestation
The Associated Press
FINDLAY, Ohio A man who admitted he sexually assaulted two children while baby-sitting will spend at least 20 years in prison.
Joshua Richards, 20, of Findlay, pleaded guilty Wednesday to rape and gross sexual imposition charges. He was sentenced to life in prison but will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
Mr. Richards confessed to police that he sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy in 1999 and early 2000.
I'm sorry for what I did, he said in Hancock County Common Pleas Court. I'm not sorry I got caught. I have a problem that I hope to get help with.
Mr. Richards agreed to the plea bargain because he did not want to put the victims through a trial and because he could have received a longer sentence if convicted, said Assistant Public Defender Ken Sass.
Mr. Richards was staying in the home where the children lived. The assaults took place while the parents were gone, and when he was baby-sitting, prosecutors said.
