Man pleads not guilty in two slayings
The Associated Press
McARTHUR, Ohio A man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to killing a college student and a man whose remains were found on the suspect's southern Ohio property.
Gregory McKnight, 24, could face the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder in the deaths of Kenyon College student Emily Murray and Gregory L. Julious, 20, of Chillicothe.
Mr. McKnight also pleaded not guilty in Vinton County Common Pleas Court to kidnapping, gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. He is being held in lieu of a $2 million bond at the Southeast Regional Jail in Nelsonville.
Ms. Murray, of Cold Spring, N.Y., disappeared Nov. 3 after leaving her waitress job at a pizza shop in Gambier, near the Kenyon campus. Mr. McKnight, who had a home in Gambier, was the restaurant's kitchen manager.
Her body was found Dec. 9 after a sheriff's deputy went to Mr. McKnight's trailer near Ray, 60 miles south of Columbus, to serve a summons on Mr. McKnight in an unrelated case.
Ms. Murray had been shot in the head. Her body was found wrapped in a carpet in the trailer near Ray, about 60 miles south of Columbus.
Mr. Julious' bones were found four days later in a cistern and trash pile on the same property. His body had been dismembered after his death.
