Student accused of firing gun in Columbus school restroom
The Associated Press
COLUMBUS An East High School freshman was arrested after he fired a gun inside a school restroom, police said.
The boy, 16, apparently fired the gun accidentally on Tuesday as he put it back into his pants pocket, authorities said. The bullet left holes in his pants and the bathroom floor.
Detectives said the boy likely would be charged with delinquency counts of carrying a concealed weapon, taking a gun to school and discharging a weapon. He also faced a mandatory one-year school suspension.
After the shooting incident, the boy took the gun home, then returned to school and turned himself in, Police Officer Chuck Distelhorst said. Police found a .38-caliber handgun at his home.
