Finneytown's Brehm gets revenge on Reading
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Finneytown pitcher Matt Brehm remembers losing to Reading 3-2 last season in nine innings.
Although Brehm fell behind most batters, he struck out a career-high 16 to lead the Wildcats past Reading 4-2 Thursday at Reading.
Matt felt he owed them one, Reading coach Steve Necessary said. He had 140 pitches but didn't want to come out.
A three-run second inning was all Brehm needed with David Young, Zac Busam and Matt Burkhofer driving in runs with base hits.
Indian Hill 6, Wyoming 5 Matt Hammer's solo home run in the seventh inning gave the Braves the victory.
Softball
Amelia 4, Mercy 3 In a 13-inning game, Lindsey Steinmetz went the distance for Amelia, allowing Mercy eight hits and striking out six to improve her record to 2-0.
St. Bernard 10, CCD 9 A bases-loaded single by Nicole Sharrock in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in Chrissy Ellis with the tying run, and Ashley Hendricks followed with another single, driving in Jenna Shadoan with the winner.
Badin 4, Little Miami 3 Stephanie Webber's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Rams the come-from-behind victory.
