Division I boys basketball all-stars
Player of the Year - Matt Sylvester, Moeller, 6-7, F. Vital statistics: Senior averaged 21.4 points and led Crusaders to 18-5 record and Greater Catholic League South title. Named first-team All-Ohio, shared Ohio player of the year award. Signed with Ohio State.
Coach of the Year - Joe Schoenfeld, Elder, 10th year, 155-80.Vital statistics: Led team to Division I state championship game before falling 49-46 to Cleveland St. Ignatius. Panthers beat St. Ignatius, then ranked No. 1, during regular season. Finished 21-7.
First Team
Jake Bazeley, Elder, 6-3, G. Vital statistics: Once cut from his freshman basketball team, developed into honorable mention all-Ohio player in senior year. Averaged 13.4 points for state runner-up Panthers.
Danny Horace, Western Hills, 6-6, F. , Vital statistics: 6-6 senior averaged 21.1 points for regional runner-up Mustangs. Named third team all-Ohio. Signed with Miami.
Robert Hite, Winton Woods, 6-2, G. Junior averaged 17.5 points and earned third-team all-Ohio honors. UC and Xavier have been among Division I schools showing interest.
Jordan Cornette, St. Xavier, 6-6, F. Vital statistics: Senior averaged 13.3 points, 7.6 rebounds for 17-6 Bombers. Named special mention all-Ohio. Signed with Notre Dame.
Darryl Peterson, Western Hills, 6-6, F. Vital statistics: Senior averaged 18.2 points and was named honorable mention all
Ohio. Signed with Akron.
Kevin Schappell, Loveland, 6-4 F Vital statistics: Junior averaged 21.7 points, his second straight season of 21 or better. Named honorable mention all-Ohio.
Justin Wilson, Wilmington, 6-2, G/F.Vital Statistics: Senior averaged 21.3 points and 8.8 rebounds and was named honorable mention all-state.
