N.Ky. girls basketball all-stars




        Player of the Year - Katie Schwegmann, Bishop Brossart, senior guard: averaged 25.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game; was named Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches 10th Region Player of the Year.

        Coach of the Year - Luci Cecil, Highlands: led the Ladybirds to their second consecutive Ninth Region title.

        First team

        • Jessica Schmidt, Walton-Verona senior forward: her 17.4 rebounds per game led state for the second straight year; averaged 22 points per game; will attend Georgetown College.

        • Katie Pohlgeers, Beechwood senior forward: averaged 24 points and 7.1 rebounds per game; shot 77 percent from the free throw line; will attend Bellarmine College.

        • Tara Boothe, Highlands junior center: averaged 20.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

        • Ciara Henderson, Boone County, senior guard: named Ninth Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches; averaged 19.6 points, 3.5 steals and 4.5 rebounds per game; hit 82 percent of her free throws; will attend Loyola-Chicago.

        • Erica Hallman, Holmes, junior guard: Her 22.1 points per game was third in Northern Kentucky behind Schwegmann and Pohlgeers.
