Wounded toddler found under dead woman

The Associated Press

CLEVELAND — Police say Cinderia Anderson was on a cell phone pleading for help when she was shot to death.

A 3-year-old girl, also shot, was found underneath her.

A Cuyahoga County coroner's staff member identified the 25-year-old slain woman, who apparently died of multiple gunshot wounds. The autopsy was set for Saturday.

She was found about 1:30 p.m. Friday in the front seat of a car in the driveway at her home on the city's east side.

A 36-year-old man who lived in the house is a suspect. Police are searching for him.

“She was on a cell phone with her sister and was advising that the suspect was hitting the window and wanted the door unlocked,” Lt. Sharon MacKay said.

Police believe Ms. Anderson was the girl's mother.

Officers who found the woman heard crying, lifted the body and found the girl with a wound to the abdomen.

Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital identified the girl Friday night as Andrienna Anderson. She was listed in stable condition after surgery.

Ms. MacKay said the suspect fled in a van.

Police said witnesses told them the van appeared to be following a car. The van was found empty a few blocks away.

The other car was stopped on Interstate 90 and two men were detained.

Ms. MacKay said the men were questioned, then released.
