Lander throws perfect game for Lebanon

        Lebanon freshman Jessica Lander (4-0) threw a perfect game with a career-high 13 strikeouts in a 14-0 victory over Edgewood.

        Norwood freshman shortstop-catcher Michelle Burns went 5-for-7 with five stolen bases Saturday as the Indians split a fast-pitch softball doubleheader with Purcell Marian.

        Norwood won the opener 7-2. Purcell won the second 7-3.

        Norwood freshman Tessa Diersing recorded 22 strikeouts while pitching both games, including a school-record 13 in the closer.

        • Winton Woods 10-14, North College Hill 8-13 — Sophomore pitcher Jessica Patton walked, stole second and third and scored the game-winning run on senior shortstop Lindsay Skalski's single to left-center. Patton was the winning pitcher in both games.

        • Amelia 2, Valley View 1 — Heather Kinman scored from third base in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs when Valley View's third baseman threw the ball away on a grounder by Lindsay Steinmetz.

        • McAuley 6, Taylor 4 — Jill Miller's two-run triple in the seventh inning drove in Nikki Zartman and Pam Stein for the win.

Baseball

        • Lakota East 6, Glen Este 5 — Tim Day hit a bases-loaded single scoring Drew Hopkins, who led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single, for the game winner.

        Glen Este had taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning, after scoring four runs.

        • Harrison 19, Withrow 9 — Shaun Hinssen set a school record with three home runs and had a career-high six RBI in Harrison coach Dave Bader's 399th career victory.

        • New Richmond 9-13, Deer Park 7-5 — Junior Mike Holcomb led the Lions to the DH sweep by going 4-for-7 with two home runs and six RBI.

        • Taylor 5-6, Talawanda 4-8 — Sophomore designated hitter Mike Clayton drove in the game-winning runs with an eighth-inning double to lead Taylor in the opener.
