The crash occurred about 11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Western near Liberty Street. The vehicle came to rest on its top with the occupants trapped inside the wreckage.
Police reports said three people were confirmed dead at the scene and a fourth, a male in his 20s, was taken to University Hospital for treatment of serious head injuries.
A witness, Chet Clark, 42, of Westwood, who drives a street sweeper for the city of Cincinnati, was on his way to work on southbound Interstate 75 when, he said, the car flew past me.
I was doing 65, he had to be doing at least 100, Mr. Clark said.
Mr. Clark said the speeding car left the interstate at the Ezzard Charles Drive exit, where the driver lost control. The car went airborne, he said, spinning in the air and flying over a guardrail and over Western Avenue, crashing into a wall and ending up resting on its top in a Western Avenue parking lot.
