Industry notes: Manufacturing


Marble products firm sold

        Nisbet-Brower Marble LLC, a unit of Nisbet-Brower, a Tristate building products supplier, has acquired Schmitt Marble Inc., manufacturer and distributor of cultured marble and other granite surfaces in Loveland.

        Terms weren't disclosed. Schmitt operates a 45,000-square-foot headquarters and plant in Loveland and a sales-warehouse in Dublin, Ohio. The company will maintain its employees and operations here and in Dublin, officials said.

        Nisbet Lumber and Hardware and Brower Products merged last year creating Nisbet-Brower. The company employs 180 in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.
       

Fujitec acquires NY elevator company

        Fujitec America Inc., the Lebanon-based elevator and escalator manufacturer, has expanded its presence in New York and the Mid-Atlantic states with the acquisition of Serge Elevator Co. of New York City.

        The North American arm of the global Fujitec elevator company said the acquisition would expand its presence in the residential building elevator market. Financial terms weren't disclosed but Fujitec said Serge, which will be renamed Fujitec Serge New York, has annual revenues of $30 million.

        It's the second acquisition for Fujitec this year. In January it acquired Canadian Elevator Ltd., a British Columbia-based elevator company.
       

Casco Products changing its name

        Casco Products Inc., Camp Washington-based industrial sewing company, has changed its name to Casco Manufacturing Solutions Inc.

Casco, which serves the health care and consumer goods markets, said the new name reflects the company's ability to solve manufacturing and product design challenges for its customers, said Melissa Mangold, president of the family-owned company that began in 1959 producing automotive seat covers.

        Casco also has expanded its customer service and engineering departments.
       

TechSolve offers compliance help

        An environmental compliance collaborative is being formed by TechSolve to help manufacturers deal with required environmental filings.

        The first of a series of free monthly forms for the collaborative will be heldMay 1, at 2 p.m. at TechSolve's Bond Hill facility. Representatives of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will discuss changes in environmental filing rules.

Sub-Zero Products lab accredited

        Cincinnati Sub-Zero Products Inc. in Sharonville said its new calibration laboratory has won approval from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, an internationally recognized organization that assesses test and calibration labs for compliance with international measurement and quality assurance standards.

        Calibration services can be performed on equipment including temperature controllers and indicators, chart recorders, analog and digital multimeters, and low-frequency power meters.
