Teen injured in MTV stunt re-creation
The Cincinnati Enquirer
INDEPENDENCE An attempt by three boys to re-create scenes from the MTV show Jackass left one of the juveniles in the hospital, while two others were taken to the Northern Kentucky Juvenile Detention Center.
A 16-year-old boy allowed himself to be struck head-on by a 1983 Honda Civic driven by a 17-year-old male, while a 16-year-old videotaped the collision from outside the car. The incident occured shortly before 3 p.m. Monday on Sidney Drive, police said.
The three were attempting to re-create similar scenes from the show, a regular half-hour program on MTV in which the cast performs outlandish physical stunts that fit the show's title. The show routinely runs a warning not to try these stunts at home.
The boy struck was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood to be treated for injuries to his chest, right leg and neck.
The other two boys were charged with wanton endangerment in the first degree, a Class D felony.
Police officials said the boys had practiced the collision a couple of times, according to the confiscated video.
