Boxer's record returns to 2-0

The Ohio Athletic Commission has changed the decision in a bout between Olympic medalist Ricardo Williams Jr. and Damian Guerra from a technical draw to a no contest.
The junior welterweight bout April 20 at Cintas Center was stopped after the second round after an accidental head-butt by Williams cut Guerra over his eye. (Fight story)
Under a no contest decision, the fighters' records remain the same as they were before the bout. Williams' record returns to 2-0 instead of 2-0-1, and Guerra's record reverts to 10-1 from 10-1-1.
The Ohio commission said it made the change on advice from the American Boxing Commission.
There is an effort to achieve more uniformity in boxing regulations, and we are trying to do that in Ohio, said Paul Amodio, executive director the Ohio commission.
He said that under ABC rules, any fight stopped because of an unintentional injury before the fourth round would be classified as no contest rather than a technical draw and would not go on the fighters' records. If the fight is stopped after that point, the decision would be based on scoring cards, he said.
Williams, a Cincinnati native, was a silver medalist in the Sydney Olympics.
