Bush nominates Indian Hill friend

Mercer Reynolds of Indian Hill has been nominated as U.S. ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, President Bush said Friday.
Mr. Reynolds, a Cincinnati investment banker, and his business partner Bill DeWitt are longtime friends of Mr. Bush.

They invested with him in the Texas oil business in the 1980s, were partners in the Texas Rangers baseball team and raised millions for his presidential campaign and inauguration festivities.
It's exciting, Mr. Reynolds, 55, said Friday night. It will be fabulous to serve our country and the president of the United States.
The three-year appointment requires confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
No timetable for that process was announced Friday.
A native of Tennessee, Mr. Reynolds would leave Cincinnati with his wife, Gabrielle, and a high school age daughter.
He and Mr. DeWitt operate an investment banking company, Reynolds DeWitt & Co.
