College sports notebook
MIAMI TRACK: Sophomore Brian Godsey (Lakota East), who finished sixth in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 14:03.70 at the Penn Relays, became MU's 17th Mid-American Conference scholar athlete of the week. He also became the first RedHawk this season to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.
MOUNT ST. JOE BASEBALL: Sophomore left-hander Dennis McRoberts (Fairfield), who pitched the first perfect game in Lions history April 28 against Defiance, was named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week. He was also named Collegiate Baseball News tri-national player of the week.
NKU SOFTBALL: The Norse signed two players:
Catcher Megan Owens (Fairfield), who earned second-team All-Greater Miami Conference honors the last two seasons.
First baseman Angie Lindeman, who helped North Canton High win the Ohio Division I state championship in 1998 and 1999.
UC BASEBALL: The Bearcats (29-16) are ranked No.31 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Top 35 poll. UC will honor its nine seniors before Sunday's 1p.m. game.
SWIMMING: Milford's Blake Davis, an Enquirer honorable mention All-Star swimmer, has signed with Missouri. Davis, who qualified for the state meet in the 200 and 500 freestyle last season, will swim distance events for the Tigers.
