Student charged in threat
The Associated Press
MURRAY, Ky. Authorities charged an 18-year-old Murray State University student in a bomb threat that closed the university just days before final examinations were set to begin.
Seamus Coffey of Murray was charged late Wednesday with terroristic threatening and attempted extortion. Mr. Coffey was being held at the Calloway County jail on $1 million bond.
The university suspended classes and closed university buildings until Monday after receiving anonymous threats that bombs had been planted in every building on campus.
Kentucky State Police said later, however, that although federal, state and local authorities were continuing to investigate, No information has been developed that would indicate there are any explosive devices planted on campus and the threat was apparently not factual.
