Two UC teammates might face charges
By Earnest Winston
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati police said Friday that there's a strong likelihood University of Cincinnati basketball players Donald Little and B.J. Grove will face charges after an altercation early Thursday in a Clifton Heights bar.
This is going to go through the court system one way or the other, District 5 Sgt. Charles White said.
Sgt. White said Mr. Grove, a sophomore center, could face a felony assault charge. He is accused of striking a man over the head with a bar stool. The sergeant said Mr. Little, also a sophomore center, could face misdemeanor assault. He is alleged to have kicked a female bartender in her side.
Sgt. White said a man told police Thursday that he and Mr. Grove got into a fight at In the Woods Tavern, 277 Calhoun St. He said he was struck in the head with a bar stool, which resulted in a wound requiring stitches. Tom Hathaway, UC's sports information director, said, If those charges are made, then that would put it in a different light, meaning the status of both players on the team could be in jeopardy.
However, Mr. Hathaway said because no charges have been filed, at this juncture we don't see any violation of any athletic department or university rules. So the university is not going to take any action.
