UK's Bogans, Prince to declare for draft
The Associated Press
LEXINGTON Tayshaun Prince and Keith Bogans, Kentucky's top scorers last season, will enter their names in this year's NBA draft, Kentucky coach Tubby Smith said.
Prince and Bogans will not sign with agents, leaving open their possible return to Kentucky if they don't like their projected positions in the June 27 draft, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported Saturday.
I'm not going to speculate on that, Smith said Friday of the likelihood of Prince and/or Bogans returning to Kentucky next season. Obviously, I'd love to have them back.
Prince and Bogans, the only Kentucky players with double-digit scoring averages last season, and other underclassmen have until June 20 to withdraw from this year's draft.
People want an answer: What are they doing? Smith said. I don't have an answer right now.
Bogans' mother, Joy, confirmed her son would enter his name in the draft. She welcomed his decision to keep open the possibility of returning to Kentucky by not retaining an agent.
I didn't want Keith to go out there and not be able to go to school, Joy Bogans said, adding, I'd rather he stay in school.
Bogans, a sophomore guard last season, led Kentucky in scoring, averaging 17 points. Prince, a forward, averaged 16.9 points as a junior.
