Congrats


Students win scholarships

        The following have received scholarships to attend Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio:

        Robert Corbett III, of Amelia, is the recipient of a $9,000 Presidential Scholarship, awarded because he has attained a 3.0 grade point average and ranks in the top 20 percent of his high-school class.

        He attends New Richmond High School and plans to major in communication arts and journalism.

        Shannon Nixson, of East Walnut Hills, received a $6,000 Minority Scholarship, awarded because she has attained no lower than a 3.0 grade point average and ranks in the top half of her graduating class. Shannon attends Hughes Center and plans to major in elementary education.

        Receiving $6,000 Trustee Scholarships, based on attaining a 3.0 high-school grade point average are: Amanda Brombosz, of New Richmond, attending New Richmond High School and planning to major in elementary education; and Joey Mastin, of Fairfield, attending Ross High School.

        Dusty Mack, of Batavia, is the recipient of a $2,000 Academic Achievement Award Scholarship, awarded on the basis of scoring between 18 and 23 on the ACT or 860 and 1,080 on the SAT, and a 2.0 high-school grade point average. He attends Glen Este High School and plans to major in athletic training and mathematics.

On dean's list

               Krista Martin, a junior biology major, was named to the fall semester dean's list at the University of Colorado at Denver.

        The graduate of Lakota High School is the daughter of Donna and Ernie Martin of Liberty Township.

MU dean's list

               Jennifer Curry, a fresh man microbiology major, was named to the first semester dean's list at Miami University in Oxford. She was also inducted into Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society for freshmen, which requires a 3.5 grade point average.

        The graduate of Milford High School is the daughter of Marge and Rick Curry of Milford.

Educator honored

               Steven Hausfeld, vice president of the Oak Hills Board of Education, received the Ohio School Boards Association Award of Achievement.

        Mr. Hausfeld, of Delhi Township, is one of 32 school board members from the state to earn the award.
