Wednesday: Federated Department Stores Inc. releases quarterly earnings; Commerce Department reports on housing starts for April; Labor Department reports on consumer price index for April.
Thursday: Labor Department reports on weekly jobless claims; Conference Board releases its Index of Leading Economic Indicators for April.
Friday: Ohio unemployment figures for April released, after two successive months in which state officials questioned the accuracy of the federal survey; Federated Department Stores has annual meeting at the company's headquarters; Commerce Department reports on international trade for March.
