Congrats


St. X graduate makes dean's list

        Matt Koop, a senior majoring in chemical engineering, was named to the fall semester dean's list at the University of Notre Dame.

        He is a graduate of St. Xavier High School and the son of Anne and Bob Koop of Liberty Township.

Teacher is tops

               Debby Simms, a sixth-grade teacher at Bridgetown Middle School, was named Educator of the Year by the Bridgetown PTA.

D.C. internship

               Junior Allan Smallwood, an Evans Scholar majoring in finance/pre-law at Miami University in Oxford, has been awarded an internship in Washington, D.C., in the office of California Con gressman Sam Farr.

        The graduate of St. Xavier High School is the son of Diane and Allan Smallwood of Norwood.

Prize writers

               The following sophomores from Ursuline Academy won awards in the College of Mount St. Joseph Writing Contest:

        Elizabeth Cayton of Oxford won first place in personal essay; and Megan Shuba of Mason, Leslie Irvine of Colerain Township and Kathryn Jenkinson of Liberty Township all won honorable mention for fiction.
