Preservation group shows Grandin homes

Five historic homes and a house under construction in the Grandin Road area of Hyde Park will be open noon-5 p.m. May 20 as part of a tour sponsored by the Cincinnati Preservation Association (CPA).

The area features outstanding examples of domestic architecture from 1860 to 1958, says Beth Sullebarger, CPA executive director. Many were commissioned by prominent families from Cincinnati's leading architects — including Tietig & Lee, Werner & Adkins and James Gilmore — in popular revival styles.

        The homes on the tour:

        • A porticoed late Greek Revival house at 1 Elmhurst Place.

        • Tudor Revival mansion at 5 Grandin Lane.

        • Mediterranean-style house with Craftsman influence at 2187 Grandin Road.

        • Brick Colonial Revival home with new kitchen at 2162 Grandin Road.

        • English Revival cottage with Arts & Crafts elements at 10 Elmhurst Place.

        • Eclectic Prairie-style mansion with Italian Renaissance elements being built at 14 Elmhurst Place.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cincinnati Preservation Association, founded in 1964 (as the Miami Purchase Association for Historic Preservation) as a non-profit organization dedicated to advocacy and education for the preservation of historic resources in Greater Cincinnati.
