Timmons leaves West Hi for Akron
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Lannis Timmons, Western Hills' boys basketball coach the past six years, has resigned to become an assistant coach at the University of Akron under Dan Hipsher.
During Timmons' tenure, the Mustangs were 79-53 with 14 players earning college basketball grant-in-aids.
It's always been my goal to try to reach the college level of coaching, said Timmons, 47.
Timmons started coaching in 1981 as an assistant at Princeton under Paul Andrews. He also coached 13 years at Middletown before accepting the top job at Western Hills in 1995.
Last week, Withrow coach George Jackson, one of Timmons' best friends, resigned to accept an assistant position at Seton Hall.
