Ludlow ends conference undefeated

Ludlow clinched the championship of the Division III Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference with a 10-3 victory over Calvary Christian in baseball action Tuesday at Ludlow.
The key was getting off to a good start with three runs in the first inning, Ludlow coach Joe Beard said. Josh Waters drove in two runs to set the tone. We finished 7-0 in the conference.
The Panthers scored three runs in the first inning and added one in the second and three more in the third. Waters had four RBI.
Campbell County 6, Bishop Brossart 1 Adam Bell's two-strike, two-out homer broke a 1-1 tie and set the stage for the Camels' victory.
Ryle 5, Newport 3 Sophomore Josh Haggard struck out seven and allowed five hits, setting the tone for the Raiders' victory.
Beechwood 13, Conner 11, at Thomas More College The Tigers scored six runs in the first and fourth innings and then held off a late Cougars rally to secure the victory.
Andrew Smith's two-RBI double in the first inning and Colin Neumann's four RBI triggered the Tigers' offensive surge.
Softball
Dixie Heights 1, Conner 0 Pinch runner Erin Canter scored the only run in the third inning on a throwing error, giving the Colonels the victory.
Erin left third base early, Dixie Heights coach Dean Fookes said. Conner's catcher threw high to third base, and Erin scored.
Pitcher Lyndsey Mayberry went the distance, allowing only two hits while picking up her fourth shutout of the season.
