Taylor, Ross lose regional baseball semis




        PIQUA - Taylor took the lead in the ninth inning only to have Columbus Watterson win their Division II regional semifinal, 5-4, on Jon DeLuca's two-run double in the bottom of the ninth.

        Nick Katsetos' RBI single in the seventh gave Taylor a 3-1 lead. Josh Baird hit a solo home run in the second and had an RBI double in the fourth for Taylor.

        • Kettering Alter 5, Ross 4, Division II regional semifinal — The Knights scored three runs in the seventh inning and one in the eighth to eliminate the Rams.

        “We shook the hands of the four seniors after the game,” Ross coach Jay Lytle said. “The guys who were left told them they're coming back next year to finish it.”

        Ross took a 4-1 lead into the seventh, but Alter rallied to force an extra inning.

        After retiring the first two Alter batters in the eighth, a walk and an error set the stage for Bobby Gettey's game-winning single.

        Matt Couch, Dominic Bogolo and James Sims has RBI singles in the third inning for Ross.
