$50M allotted for agencies
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The United Way and Community Chest announced nearly $50 million in funding for what the agency called 160 result-producing programs in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
The $49.9 million is to be distributed in fiscal year 2002, which begins in July. Allocations include a $2 million allocation for Every Child Succeeds, a United Way/Children's Hospital/Hamilton County Community Action Agency collaborative project that helps 1,200 families give children a safe, healthy start in life.
Brighton Center Inc., a Newport-based agency, will receive $1,152,770.
United Way said the recipient of the largest amount is the American Red Cross, Cincinnati Chapter, which will get $5.5 million.
Also receiving more than $1 million were: Boy Scouts of America Dan Beard Council; Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati Inc.; Catholic Social Services of Southwestern Ohio; Family Service of the Cincinnati Area; The Salvation Army of Greater Cincinnati and the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky.
