School Notes
Roger Bacon hires layman as principal
ST. BERNARD Roger Bacon High School will get the first lay principal in its history with the recent appointment of Tom Devolve, a 1982 graduate of the 73-year-old school.
Mr. Devolve begins work July 1. He is only the ninth principal at Roger Bacon. Mr. Devolve replaces Father Roger Bosse, who has been reassigned.
Mr. Devolve holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Ohio State University.
He has been Milford High School's assistant principal the past two years and was principal at Sheridan High School, near Thornville, Ohio.
Mr. Devolve also taught in the Newark Schools, near Columbus.
Free workshops
LEBANON Free workshops to improve work and personal skills will be offered by the Warren County Career Center beginning today at the One-Stop Employment Center, 300 E. Silver St.
Each workshop meets from 1-5 p.m. The schedule:
Today: Interviewing skills.
Wednesday: Managing anger.
Thursday: Cover letters, thank you letters and reference pages.
Friday: Resume writing.

Fairfield concert
FAIRFIELD Concert bands from Fairfield's freshman and senior high schools will perform at a free community outdoor concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Village Green Amphitheater.
Bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Canned food donations that will be given to the Shared Harvest Food Bank will be accepted.
In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Fairfield Senior High School Performing Arts Center. No food or drink is permitted in the center.
Garden grant
NORWOOD Allison Elementary School has been awarded a $550 Summertime Kids Grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation for a garden project titled Summertime Dirt: Restoration of an Outdoor Lab.
Under the direction of David Barr, a summer garden club will periodically meet over the summer to restore the school's outdoor learning lab for use in the 2001-02 school year.
The money will be used to buy plants and supplies for the project. For information, call Mr. Barr, 396-5516.
