Deer Park offers summer school

DEER PARK Summer school registration for junior high students in Deer Park Community Schools is due Wednesday.
Classes run 8-10:10 a.m., or 10:20 a.m.-12:20 p.m. weekdays, July 16-Aug. 10. Courses offered to seventh- and eighth-graders are math, language arts, social studies and science. Cost is $75 per class for residents, $120 for nonresidents. Classes meet at Deer Park High School.
A reading class for elementary school students in grades 1-6 will be offered 8 a.m.-noon weekdays July 9-27. Cost is $100 per student. The class will be held at Amity Elementary.

Honors assemblies
MIDDLETOWN An honors assembly will begin 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for third- through fifth-graders at McKinley Elementary School. The sixth-grade program will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The community is invited to both.
A breakfast for volunteers who have assisted at Middletown High School will begin 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The Volunteer of the Year will be recognized at today's 7 p.m. Community Education Graduation program at Middletown High School Theatre.
Workshops offered
LEBANON The Warren County Career Center is offering free adult workshops this week at its One-Stop Employment Center, 300 W. Silver St. Workshops run 1-5 p.m.:
Today: Self-Esteem for Success
Wednesday: Finding Job Leads On and Off the Internet, 1-3 p.m.; Maybe It's Who You Know (Networking), 3-5 p.m.
Thursday: Are You Aggressive, Assertive or Passive?
Friday: Interviewing Skills.
MHHS gets grants
MOUNT HEALTHY - Teachers at Mount Healthy High School will be able to attend staff development programs because of $15,000 in grants from High Schools That Work, Southwest Ohio and the Knowledge Works Foundation.
High Schools That Work provides a framework of goals, key practices and key conditions for accelerating learning and setting higher standards.
