Staying in
TV picks: It's the big one: A&E's The Big Heist dramatizes how Jimmy The Gent Burke (Donald Sutherland) pulled off an $8 million theft from the Lufthansa terminal at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport in 1978 (9 p.m. today, A&E).
TV Critic John Kiesewetter also says Mel Gibson narrates the Quest for Captain Kidd, about the search for Captain Kidd's 17th century ship wreck off the coast of Madagascar (9 p.m., Discovery).
Web site of the day: According to the United Nations, this is the International year of volunteers. What about paying to volunteer? Fee-based volunteer programs like Cross-Cultural Solutions charge do-gooders to participate in short-term anti-vacations. Work in the Third World for a few weeks, instead of spending your off time at a hedonistic resort. Check out www.crossculturalsolutions.org/ccs.html.
