Academics, service yield scholarship

        Kelly McClain, a student at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo., has received the University's Dean's Scholarship in recognition of her academic achievement and Christian service. She is a resident of White Oak.

Senior now member

               Senior leadership studies major Shannon Hornung, was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Richmond, Va.

        The St. Ursula Academy graduate is the daughter of Peggy and Gregory Hornung, formerly of Fairfield.

Volunteers honored

               The following volunteers were honored by the United Way & Community Chest for their dedication to the community:

        Tyia Zhune't Pearson,of Middletown, received the Youth Recognition Award for service; Julie Schubert, of Pleasant Ridge, received the Pearl S. Gantz Award for service; Robert Wehling, of Augusta, Ky., received the Neil H. McElroy Award for exemplary contributions to the United Way campaign; Robert Primm, of Fairfield, received the William A. Mitchell Award for leadership; and Robert Harris, of East Walnut Hills, received the Joseph A. Hall Award for fostering diversity.

Society picks senior

               Alissa Cordie, a senior at the College of Mount St. Joseph, was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Caryl and Ed Cordie of Colerain Township.

Basic training over

               The following airmen have graduated from the Air Force basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas:

        John Corwin, a graduate of Deer Park High School and son of Sandy and Steve Corwin of Deer Park; Cheraun Malone, graduate of Mount Healthy High School and daughter of Cheryl Malone of Bevis; Nicole O'Hara, daughter of Sandra O'Hara of Milford; Joshua Nicewonder, graduate of Moeller High School and son of Terri Muennich of Miami Township, Clermont County; Brandy Denny, graduate of Withrow High School, the daughter of Michelle Denny and step-daughter of Carson Larkin of O'Bryonville; Tonya Gehring, daughter of Kenneth Gehring of Colerain Township and Debra Simpson of Las Vegas; John Spears, graduate of Landmark Christian School and son of Douglas Spears of Sharonville.
