Student gets peek at U.S. government
Kristin Burroughstraveled to Washington, D.C., this summer for a behind-the-scenes look at the federal government as a participant in the Presidential Classroom Scholars Program, a civic education program.
Kristin, daughter of Gayle and Don Burroughs of Williamsburg, is a student at Williamsburg High School.
2 join athletic Hall
The following have been inducted into the Finneytown High School Hall of Fame in the athletics category: Melanie McNulty,class of 1968, an athlete before there were leagues, tournaments or championships for any girls high school sports, participated in every sport available, and served as vice president and president of the Girls Athletic Association. At Ohio State University, she played three varsity sports a year for four years. She has since coached teams that have won league, sectional and district championships, and competed in the Ohio Final Four. She also coached at the World Games for the Deaf. She now serves as Recreational Director of Springfield Township.
Mike Morgan, class of 1971, distinguished himself in athletics at Finneytown High and attended the University of Cincinnati on a full, four-year football scholarship. He has taught elementary school and middle school science; coached football, basketball and track for Deer Park; coached girls' basketball and softball for the Finneytown Athletic Association; and is now athletics director of Deer Park City Schools.
Doctorate up next
Sunnie Rucker, of College Hill, earned a master's degree in Slavic and Eastern European studies from Ohio State University. She will continue studying as a Ph.D candidate in Bosnian literature at the University of London.
The graduate of Princeton High School received an undergraduate degree in Russian studies from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
