Officer Roach trial scheduled for Sept. 17
Cincinnati Police Officer Stephen Roach will go to trial Sept. 17 in connection with the April shooting death of an unarmed teen-ager in Over-the-Rhine.
Officer Roach's attorney, Merlyn Shiverdecker, appeared in Hamilton County Municipal Court Wednesday to exchange evidence in the case with prosecutors.

The officer was indicted on two misdemeanor charges obstructing official business and negligent homicide for shooting Timothy Thomas, 19, on April 7.
Officer Roach is free on bond and was not required to attend Wednesday's pretrial hearing.
The shooting sparked rioting in Over-the-Rhine, prompted the mayor to form a group to improve relations between police and city residents, and drew the attention of the Department of Justice, which now is investigating the police division.
Officer Roach is the third Cincinnati police officer in two years to face criminal charges stemming from the death of a suspect.
